used at the visitor information centers within Grand Central Terminal
(42nd Street at Park Avenue) and Federal Hall (Wall Street at Broad
Street).

The grid largely follows a plan first drafted in 1811. It was never imposed on the original settlement - today's Financial District. There, just as in London or Istanbul, it is as if someone dropped a handful of Chinese pick-up sticks. Streets follow ancient cow paths, streams or boundary lines between old farms.
